Why Do I Need a Trowel?

Posted on May 10, 2021

Do I need a trowel? This is the question that comes to every gardener’s mind. The fact is that trowels come in pretty much every size, shape and colour. A simple visit to your local garden supply store will reveal an almost infinite variety of garden tools and gardening equipment to choose from.

If you are just starting out then you’ll probably only have the need for basic garden equipment. That’s not a problem because there are many good quality starter sets that you can get at very reasonable prices. There are even some that cost less than a loaf of bread. And, if you are really ambitious you could even try and get a couple of these for free. But, as with all garden equipment it’s important that you invest in a proper set. You wouldn’t go walking round the garden with a rusty claw hammer!

Now, let’s think about whether you need a garden trowel or not. Basically, you only need one when you are preparing the soil for planting. Otherwise, you’ll have plenty of garden equipment to choose from. However, you might want to add a couple more garden implements before you start planting. For example, it’s a good idea to get a garden fork as part of your basic garden equipment.

One other thing that you should consider before you buy a trowel is what exactly you will be doing with it. Will you just be trowing earth around the garden? Or will you be digging up the ground and setting the soil on it? These two tasks require different sized tools. It might also be helpful to buy a couple of smaller spades instead of a larger pickax. And, make sure that you have a trowel that fits your gardening tool set!

So, now we know the answer to the question, “Why do I need a trowel?” Let’s discuss some of the other garden tools that will be needed for different garden jobs. A garden fork is great for scraping up weeds. And, there are many other tools that can help you with garden work – including, a garden hoe, a garden shovel, a pitchfork, and a hand fork.

There are many reasons why you might ask the question, “Do I need a trowel?”. And, you should never skip this tool. First of all, it keeps you from digging up your garden in the future (which we all hate to do). Next, trowels ensure that your garden is very well maintained, and it also makes your job easier. Also, trowels protect your lawn from being damaged by heavy soils, sand, or mud.

So, what do I need? Well, there are many different sizes of trowels, so you should consider how much work you are doing, and which one would best suit your needs. For example, if you are just doing some very small flowerbeds or just planting things around the garden, you might think that a smaller trowel would suffice. However, you need something that is not too small but still effective at your job.

If you are a real garden professional or gardener who has more than a few plants to tend to, then you might want to spend a bit more money. You will also want to get a durable tool. The last thing you want is one that breaks after a few uses. One way to find out if you need a trowel is to take a trip to your local garden shop, look around and decide which garden tools you have and which ones you would like to buy. Then you can decide which garden tools you need, and when you need them.
