Raised Bed Gardening Tips

Posted on June 5, 2021

If you are planning to landscape your home with flowers, then it is better to landscape your front yard first as that is the most visible part of the house. This will allow you to have a picture perfect view of your landscaping project at a cheaper cost. With the flowers landscaping you can add a few trees or some big bushes if you like. There are many designs you can use for your raised bed front of house landscaping. You can choose to keep your landscaping simple and uncomplicated or you can add some elaborate designs and arrangements of flowers and other plants.

When planning to landscape with flowers for your raised bed front of house, it is better to start designing and planting it a little early. This will give room for the growth of the plants and you will not need to pull the plants when they get too tall. You can start transplanting them from the original soil and place them in the bed with soil and rocks. Water the plants well and be sure to fill in all the spaces between the rocks so that there are no air pockets. The good thing with landscaping with flowers is that they do not need to be replanted often.

If you like to have an odd flower arrangement with your landscaping, you can use ivy, fiddlehead fern, and other ornamental plants. This will add an unusual touch to your flower beds. Other flowers such as tulips, marigolds, sunflowers, and bluebirds also look good when placed in raised bed front of house areas.

In the summer season, rose bushes and sunflowers look great. You can use several varieties of rose bushes in your landscaping design and create a nice-looking landscape. Other plants you may consider include sunflowers, California poppies, Mexican tulips, and California bluebells. They come in a variety of colors, such as white, red, pink, yellow, and burgundy. These plants can be grown in an area that has hard dirt, sandy soil, clay soil, and organic mulch.

Some landscaping ideas for raised bed gardens are using stone borders, rounded decorative stones, and rocks. You can also find many interesting types of decorative rocks and statues at your local home improvement store. Look for wrought iron, and other metal edifices. These materials will compliment any raised garden beds and create a rustic atmosphere. These materials are durable and can withstand high winds.

Once you have chosen the type of materials you would like to use, the next step is to decide on a placement for your raised bed. It is best to place it in a place that gets maximum sunlight exposure, so that the flowers will thrive. You should place it as close as possible to the main door so that guests can stop by and admire the flowers while they are stopping by. It is very nice to see a raised bed in the front of your house because it adds a little bit of character to your home.

Many times people place their flowerbeds in the center of their front yard. They call this “the curse spot”. The reason for this is that if the flowers grow there they get all the sun they need. They can go through the winter with no sunlight, and then bloom again in the spring.

One thing to remember when choosing a raised bed garden design is that your choices need to compliment each other. If you plant tall plants to one side of the raised bed, and shorter plants to the other side, they will not get the needed light. Also, it is important to use several pots to ensure a good growing environment. Having a raised bed garden will give your home a natural feel and make the whole house cozier.
